Baxa Corporation to Sponsor Free Webinar on Improving the Quality of Sterile Compounding Through Automation

Baxa Corporation – a leading developer of medical device technology for the safe handling, preparation, packaging and administration of fluid medications – announces a new Webinar program supporting quality and compliance in sterile compounding activities. The Webinar presentation, titled "Improving Sterile Compounding Quality Through Automation," features Eric Kastango RPh, MBA, FASHP in a discussion of the testing requirements and industry regulations and the use of automation to achieve product quality and patient safety goals. This ACPE-accredited Webinar presentation provides participants with one CE credit and takes place on February 25, 2010, at 2 PM Eastern Time/11 AM Pacific Time.

The February Webinar program covers a variety of topics related to the use of automation for ensuring sterile compounding, as well as a discussion of the benefits of automated filling systems. Baxa Corporation sells the leading automation system for syringe filling, the IntelliFill® i.v., which has filled nearly 28 million IV syringes since its launch in 2002.

Kastango, a professional trainer at the Baxa Skills Training, Academics and Resources (STAR) Center®, is a consultant on topics of USP 797 compliance, best practice in sterile compounding and cleanroom operations. He has provided consulting on beyond-use-dating and the use of automated filling systems and performed benchmark testing on the IntelliFill i.v. System to determine its capabilities for USP 797-compliant sterile filling.
