Deafness Research Foundation Names New Chairman

Deafness Research Foundation (DRF), the leading national source of private funding for research in hearing and balance science, announces that Clifford P. Tallman, Jr. has been unanimously elected as Chairman of the Board, effective January 1, 2010. Mr. Tallman brings to DRF a vast array of professional experiences in magazine and custom publishing, cable television, and internet advertising sales, as well as a strong dedication to healthy hearing.

Mr. Tallman joined DRF's Board of Directors in 2008. He is currently co-founder and owner of Soskin Tallman Inc., a print and internet marketing firm, located in Norwalk, Connecticut. He served as Vice President for Marketing & Business Development for Miller Sports Group in New York, where he was responsible for all consumer marketing programs for Tennis, Cruising World, and Sailing World magazines. Mr. Tallman has served as Publisher for US magazine and House Beautiful; Advertising Director for Architectural Digest and Changing Times; Group Sales Director for The New York Times Sports Leisure Group (Golf Digest and Tennis magazines); President of CTI Industries, Inc., a family-owned international industrial restoration company; and was the founder and owner of Adorney Tallman, a golf publishing, internet and syndication company that published Player magazine and ran the Golf Society of the U.S.

A graduate of Villanova University, Mr. Tallman has served in numerous positions of public service including the U.S. Army as 1st Lieutenant, Infantry and in the 10th Special Forces Group Airborne in Germany.

Mr. Tallman's wealth of experiences will enrich Deafness Research Foundation. His strong communications background and strategic direction will be instrumental in the success and growth of DRF's programs, including Hearing Health Magazine.

The mission of Deafness Research Foundation is to attain a lifetime of healthy hearing and balance through quality research, education, and advocacy. Since 1958, DRF has distributed over $24MM for research and has given over 2,200 grants to researchers working in the field of hearing and balance science. DRF's funding has resulted in significant contributions to cochlear implant, auditory research, surgical therapy for otosclerosis, and developments towards hair cell regeneration. DRF is the publisher of Hearing Health magazine.
